Dan Y Coed pupil raises money for St John Ambulance
An 11-year-old pupil from Dan Y Coed school in Swansea has raised money for St John Ambulance by running a raffle at his school.
Dan Y Coed, in Swansea Bay, is a state of the art specialist school and residential service, run by Orbis Education and Care, for children with complex needs associated with autism.
Pupil CE is a first-aider with St John Ambulance through the Cadets and he was keen to support the charity by raising some extra funds for them. So, with the help of his support worker, he contacted lots of local businesses to enlist their help for prizes.
Local restaurants such as The Lighthouse, Turtle Bay, and Castle Spice, donated prizes to the raffle as well as local shops. Thanks to CE’s efforts and the prizes from local businesses, which included a men’s body set hamper and a 1kg sweet jar, the raffle raised more than £120 for the charity.
“I’m very happy with the amount I raised for St John Ambulance. I think people were happy with their prizes and it was a really fun thing to organise.”

“I'm immensely proud of CE’s effort in raising money for St John Ambulance. It's been very cool to see him pursuing such a challenging and worthwhile activity as well as learning advanced first aid techniques.”
